Steve Wood has more than thirty years of experience in construction, planning and facilities maintenance. He began his career as a licensed contractor in California in the 1970’s after several years working in various building trades.

In 1984, he became Director of Facilities at Presbyterian Hospital in Whittier, CA., managing the maintenance and facilities for this large, acute-care hospital. He began project management with hospital construction projects and has served as project manager for large construction projects ever since.

In the 1990’s he moved into construction management and maintenance of schools, first at Hemet Unified School District in Hemet, CA. He then moved to Berkeley Unified School District in Berkeley, CA overseeing the construction, rebuilding and maintenance of the school district following the 1989 San Francisco/Loma Prieta Earthquake, which closed and damaged many of the schools.

Steve is highly skilled in construction administration, planning, entitlements, and maintenance of existing facilities. He will take your project from conception, through planning/entitlement approvals and then build your project for you. He also analyzes and solves complex building problems. His expertise in maintenance of buildings efficiently helps his clients keep the costs of maintaining their buildings within budget. He can advise on preventative maintenance programs that help keep capital repair costs down.

Steve has a vast list of completed projects and is a member of Construction Management Association of America, The Association of Construction Inspectors and the International Facilities Management Association. He has been a featured lecturer at Cal Poly Pomona in the Advanced Planning and Development Course and the Construction Management Course.

Steve has a proven ability to manage construction projects effectively, utilizing a tough but fair approach, coupled with diplomacy. He is an expert in leadership of A/E and project teams, management of contractors and large projects, Design/Build and BTS, problem solving, and cost-effective resolutions. Mr. Wood is an expert at solving complex construction related problems in new and existing building and structures He has completed over $2.5 billion in projects in over 32 years of project management.

Career Highlights for Mr. Steve Wood

Currently Steve Wood is doing commercial facility management and also developing a new commercial building. He works occasionally as an advisor and expert witness. He has vast experience in construction, analyzing complex building projects and development.

Mr. Wood got all the entitlements for the 1600 home McSweeny Farms project in Hemet, CA. He managed the consultant team to obtain the entitlements plus get a Zone change, incorporating the project from Riverside County into the City of Hemet, CA. He worked directly for the landowners and guided them through the process successfully. This project is just now starting the second phase of housing construction as of mid 2022.

Steve was the Project manager for two large projects in 2005-2006 located in Temecula, CA. Hillcrest Academy, a private K-8 school needed a new school building. Steve helped obtain the financing for the school and then provided project management for the project. During this project, Steve also provided project management for a new Class A office building nearby for DL Phares Real Estate.

As construction Manager for Mapleton, a Bluestone Community’s 1000 home development in Murrieta, CA. Mr. Wood managed the A/E team and all the periphery consultants, the mass grading, street improvements, underground utilities, drainage and other offsite improvements, as well as interfaced and negotiated with the City of Murrieta for permits, inspections and changes to the project. This 3 ½ year project was completed, with the bonds signed off, in January 2006.

Mr. Wood was the project manager for the Domenigoni-Barton Properties Specific Plan/EIR for 4200 homes and an 18-hole golf course on 1734 acres in Winchester, CA. He was responsible for managing the consultant team that developed, entitled and obtained approval for this project.

During the 1990’s Mr. Wood provided construction management for the building and modernization of several schools for Hemet Unified School District in Hemet, CA.

During the 1980’s Mr. Wood oversaw the construction of hospitals and medical facilities. Serving in the Incident Command Center in Pleasant Hill, CA City Hall following the San Francisco/Loma Prieta earthquake. Steve was responsible for assistance to over 170 hospitals that were damaged as a result of the quake. He proudly accepted a citation from the State of California for his excellent service.
